The HPV vaccines are the first in the history to be expected to prevent a cancer. I research about since 2008 it and have since authored three investigative documentaries for Swiss national TV. I don’t believe this intervention is effective, safe and appropriate – which is a must in a public health campaign targeting healthy individuals. The biggest problem: the evidence on their efficacy and safety is weak, and flawed. Along with Catherine Riva and the MD Jean-Pierre Spinosa I co-signed on this issue a paper published in December 2018 by BMJ Evidence-Based Medicine journal.

Il vaccino contro il Papilloma Virus (HPV) è il primo nella storia da cui ci si aspetti che possa prevenire un cancro – il tumore al collo dell’utero. Studio la questione dal 2008 e nessuno è riuscito a convincermi che questo vaccino sia efficace, sicuro ed appropriato. A dicembre 2018 insieme a Catherine Riva e al ginecologo Jean-Pierre Spinosa ho scritto un’analisi che è stata pubblicata dal giornale del British Medical Journal BMJ-Evidence-Based Medicine. Quanto al mio lavoro come giornalista sul tema, la prima inchiesta è stata nel 2008 per il documentario di Falò RSI “Gardasil, una speranza e qualche dubbio” – ne potete leggere qui la trascrizione in italiano. Nel 2010 ho scoperto l’eccezionale libro d’inchiesta che Catherine Riva ha scritto insieme a Jean-Pierre Spinosa (“La piqûre de trop?”, edizioni Xenia) e ho realizzato un secondo documentario sul tema: “Dalla parte delle bambine” diffuso in italiano da Falò RSI (qui la trascrizione) e in tedesco da Rundschau SRF (Watch the video). Nel documentario del 2010 Catherine Riva era intervistata, nel 2015 abbiamo fondato insieme Re-Check. Sono tornata sul tema vaccino HPV, stavolta sulla questione degli effetti indesiderati, con il servizio “Gefährliche Impfung für Mädchen” in onda in tedesco a Rundschau SRF nel 2014.
